For this task we were given a template to create some patterns in on Vectorworks, the top three rectangles are to be etched in the laser cutting machine and the bottom three to be cut, we had to bare this in mind when creating our patterns and the cutting ones had to linked to the edge.

The laser cutter doesn’t accept Vectorworks files so I created an Indesign file that was A3 as this was the size of material I wanted to use and made sure it was positioned correctly, this was the easiest way for me to put my work into Coral (the software used for the laser cutter) because I already have Indesign on my laptop but some people used PDFs and created a file type using the laptops in the Studio.

Below are images taken as the laser cutting was creating my work, they are blurred due to fast movement of the laser cutter.
Below is my final piece, I created it on plywood however it looks white due to photographing it, I really like my outcome because I used a thicker piece of wood than a lot of other people which meant my etching was deeper and therefore darker which helps it stand out.
