My Work
We were tasked to add another room next door to the workspace we have designed so I added a meeting room where my client can meet his clients and discuss business. I have included a small kitchen area with a sink, some worktops and a fridge so he can offer his visitors a drink with ease and make them feel comfortable although this is difficult to see in the section. I create the plan in 3D first before cutting a section and editing it to make it more visually pleasing.
This is my section which I made in Vectorworks and then added the view in photoshop. After I made this I added it into a full 3 story house where I imagine he would be working from his home office.

I kept all of the house grey apart from the rooms we are focusing on as it is just to give it a space within the building but it isn’t about the design of the rest of the building.
Unfortunately I wasn’t very happy with this piece because the ceiling heights look out of proportion in the rest of the house and I felt the Office should be on the ground floor to create easy access for clients. I still wanted to keep it a home office however I decided it may be better to have it as an extension to keep it separate to the house. I created the whole thing in 3D Vectorworks to be able to show this in my section.
Firstly I created the walls for the building before adding in floors and roof. This time the main house floors were set at 2400mm as this is more average for a house. I struggled with the angled roof because this doesn’t seem to be an option on Vectorworks so I made a rectangle, turned it into a 3D polys and then transformed it to the top of the walls. I then took the front walls of to create a section and added in the textures, the main office floor is now stone instead of wood as it seemed to be too much wood in the room and the meeting room next door is carpeted to create comfort for clients. I used a website to download a lot of my furniture however I created the desk myself as I wanted to be more specific.

I haven’t rendered the main house as I wanted it kept grey as to not draw attention, I tried to add as much as I could into the main house including a kitchen, dining table, living room and stairs downstairs in an open plan style. I also added bedrooms upstairs and a space to be a bathroom but this was hidden by a wall in the section so I didn’t fit it out.

This is the view from the top.

And this is a Wireframe and OpenGL screenshot of my plan.
Finally I took this into photoshop to finish rendering it and add a background. I decided to render it to create the look at nighttime because I think it makes it stand out more.
